Abstract

This paper aims to fit within the scope of the debate around the issues linked to the subjects of equal opportunities and work-life balance. After an analysis of the relevant EU legislation and a pedagogical reflection around the need of a family education oriented to the prospect of a co-education founded on the sharing of responsibilities between parents and educators for the growth of minors, it is presented the project “Spazio Gioco” of the University of Foggia. Started in 2013 – at the same time to the subscription by part of the University of the “Charter for Equal Opportunities” – with the aim of supporting the families of employees in the function of caring for children and reducing the inconvenience of “acrobat mothers” (Rosci, 2007), the service, organized from the guidelines of the framework law n. 285 of 1997, hosted in the course of the five years of activity (from July to September 2013 to June-September 2017), children of age from 3 to 10 years. The calendar of activities included workshops and ateliers of narration, art, music, environmental education – conducted not only from doctors, Phd students researcher and educators of the department, but also by external experts – supplemented by moments of “free” recreational activities. Interventions that are not of “welfaring” type, therefore, but educational. In order to grow adults and children together, as testified by the narratives reported in contribution, in a sign of respect and equal opportunities between men and women and between boys and girls.
