Abstract

This article provides an economic balance of the four Cistercian monasterieslocated in the southwest Galician: Aciverio, Armenteira, A Franqueira and Oia. Only then it will be shown that without reaching the splendor of the founding days, the monks of these monasteries managed to safeguard their institutions throughout the modern period because, of course, diversity and robustness of its economic foundations, but also an administration in the hands of the religious themselves with well-defined roles and specific responsibilities that allowed living without great burdens until the crisis began late Ancien Regime in the last third of the eighteenth century.
