Abstract

This article analyzes the assimilation in the work of Thomas Aquinas of the fundamental principles of Aristotelian physical necessitarianism and the introduction, from the point of view of Christian cosmology, of two types of phenomena outside the natural philosophy of Aristotle: the hidden operations of nature and the miracles. It studies the Aquinas’s posture about the magnetism, tides, therapeutic properties of the compounds and the origin of the powers of the necromantic figures and relics.
