Abstract
In this paper it is upheld that the essential sense of speech lies in its function of shelterand taking in, better than in the enunciation of the world or the exchange of information. Asto the arguments, both some turns of colloquial language and some philosophical reflectionson the language, such as that of Emmanuel Lévinas are stated
