Abstract

A considerable group of rural potentate accedes to nobility during an intense process of social mobility from the second half of the 16th century in the Ancient Kingdom of Galicia. This provincial nobility fortified itself as hegemonic rentiers with an unfair social reproduction model and adaptanding the exclusive noble ideology to new necessities of social promotion. Local power institutions control and a gradual familiarity with the noble ethos permit them to became strong in their condition of privileged class.
