Abstract
This article is the written version of a lecture delivered at the Fundación Duques de Soria in the summer of 1997. It contains some suggerstions about the pattern of evolution of the Castilian political system from the reign of Charles I until the end of the House of Austria's hegemony (1659). It mainly deals with the fiscal and administrative aspects wich pointed at evolution above mentioned.
