Abstract

The development of the public ceremonies required the participation of the urban power institutions, which in the case of Lugo during the Modern Age were the town hall, the ecclesiastical chapter and the bishop. These three institutions, which were constantly disputing the government and justice of the city, would generate endless lawsuits at the moment of the organization of the ceremonies, since the place occupied in the ritual is a reflection of the political and social importance of each one of the agents of the city.
