Abstract

The Constitution of 1812 caused a notable change in the political and institutionalconfiguration of the Hispanic Monarchy. Its content and meaning must be transmitted tothe population in order to it were understood and formally accepted. This pedagogic andinstitutional task was developed by the organization of diverse programs of festive characterin which the necessary act of the oath was included. Some of the ceremonies and celebrationsthat took place in several Galician and Asturian cities are checked in this paper with thepurpose of knowing the resources that were used, their meanings and possible influence in theconfiguration of a new political mentality.
