Abstract
The present paper presents a palaeographic and critical edition of certain texts following the criteria suggested by CHARTA (2008). In essence it is a family letter collection sent to Buenos Aires from Vigo and A Coruña between 1767 and 1806. A first attempt to achieve a historical corpus has been carried out in order to describe Castilian in Galicia, a lan-guage which has been in contact with Galician for many centuries. Some aspects of Galicia at that period, like socio-historical, economical, and linguistic aspects, complete this edition of fa-mily correspondence. Church, printing, and literacy teaching are especially analyzed as factors that helped the spreado of the more prestigious Castilian variant; finally, our edition criteria and a brief phonetic, phonological and morphosyntactic analysis are described.
