The consilium domesticum

Abstract
The consilium domesticum is an institution within the Roman family whose nature and existence has not been completely clear. His scope of action was limited to the family and he was summoned to resolve conflicts within the family and, also, to control, in some way, the sanctioning powers of the paterfamilias over the people who were under his parental authority. As for the nature of this court, it is not entirely clear, following a thorough study of the existing sources, whether it was actually a court of criminal or civil jurisdiction, so we can understand the true purpose, as well as The operation of this domestic court becomes even more controversial.
