Iguales en las necesidades: intuiciones aristotélicas sobre el sentimiento de indignación

Abstract

In this essay the author deals with some logical ambiguities liying underneath the conceptual category of equality and the social and political effects they may produce. A brief theoretical outline of the issue is followed by a historical and philosophical reconstruction which aims to suggest the opportunity of re-reading Aristotle's moral philosophy in order to reconsider the premises of normative equality. Special attention is paid to the Aristotelian valorisation of the cognitive dimension of emotions such as rage and indignation.
