This paper tries to explore the links between sport violence and the building of masculinity. Firstly, the papers describe the main theoretical frameworks in the sociological study of sport and violence. Secondly, a profile of the average football hooligan and of its main characteristics is sketched. And, finally, the relation between masculinity and football hooliganism is explored using the analytics tools of feminist paradigm in order to consider how sport violence helps to build the masculine identity. The paper concludes remarking the links between violence, sport and the decreasing of patriarchal structures.
