Abstract

The paper analyzes the recruitment system of the political elites of the V French Republic from the analysis of the Presidency, as its central institution, noting the high technical and professional qualification that defines the trajectory of all heads of state that have France had between 1965 and 2017. The research starts from the conceptual delimitation of the semi-presidential model and the specific aspects that define the French political system and the presidential election procedure. Once the main dimensions of the institutional architecture of the Presidency of the Republic have been studied, the research analyzes the personal, educational, professional and political variables that define the profile of the eight Presidents of the V Republic since the model of direct election of the head of state.
