El concepto de insurgencia a debate: una aproximación teórica

Abstract

This article tackles the fundamental question of the correct identification of a political phenomenon such as ‘insurgency’ as a previous step to the design of strategies and responses in the framework of public security and defense policies. Its current strategic outstanding has been reflected in an increasing number in opinion articles and scientific papers where a certain laxity and sometimes an inappropriate use or too»stretched» of the concept itself can be observed. For this, we will carry out a review of some of the definitions and theoretical reflections on insurgencies which will be submitted to discussion and debate with other similar concepts, and we´ll outline some of their characteristic common features to shed some light on their contours.
