Main Article Content
Abstract
necropolis in the southwest of Galicia, was directly related to the areas illuminated by the first rays of sun in astronomically special days, such as Winter Solstice and Equinoxes. Is demonstrated the idea that the primary cause of the location of the monuments was Orto Sun lighting, before other commonly accepted factors as the visibility of the monument to long distance, legitimizing the appropriation of territory, etc. The potential of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for archaeoastronomical simulation is analyzed, and following this hypothesis we present here, make the best use for prediction, exploration and discovery of new sites.
