Abstract

Much has been written about the Western Sahara, yet, there are several silences. The annexation of part of the territory by the Alawite crown, and the imposed administrative measures were, to a certain extent, causing these silences. In 2005, there is a change of direction which will make the word a major actor. The Sahrawis have broken the silence; elements of traditional social organization have been integrated and it has revealed a distinctive memory that has permitted the Saharawi community to construct a cultural resistance.
However, the resistance goes back to the beginning of the occupation. The civil society organizations have been assembled and they have reinvented their strategies of resistance. In this setting, it is imperative to highlight the interaction between the Sahrawis from the former Spanish Sahara and those from the south of Morocco, Ifni. The inquiry about those first 30 years is there. The amount of data recovered, made us understand that we had a story that had been waiting to be voiced for decades.
