Abstract

This article aims to describe the treatment of the prior consultation for Peruvian indigenous people in all legislative and administrative measures that directly affect them. The analysis uses as a reference the indigenous social movement in the Peruvian Amazon (2008-2009). We will review pre and post conflict situation: we will systematize actual participation and consultation mechanisms, and the way they have been applied, as well as the indigenous organization proposals, the government commitments that have been assumed and the remaining challenges, which are derived mainly from the prior consultation law elaboration and the approvement of the prior consultation law proposal.
