This article draws upon qualitative data to analyze how egalitarian couples managed their relationship and how are these new models of couples. Specifically, this article analyzes the ways in which sexuality issues are managed and negotiated in these couples, emphasizing the concept of monogamy. Monogamy becomes relevant because it explains what it means to be a couple and which practical and symbolic changes have happened in relationships in the recent years. In the same way, we will see the differences managing sexuality between homosexual and heterosexual couples and how the hierarchy of social and affective relationships in our society affects the way we understand this kind of relationships.
