Abstract

The development of many Third World societies exhibits a separation between the technical- economic modernity, which is willingly accepted, and the cultural-political modernity, which is rejected in the name of autochthonous values. In order to justify that rejection and depreciate the noneconomic achievements of modernity, many theories are arising, some of them very popular, which are founded on the incertitude provoked by political modernity and on the renaissance of often authoritarian forms of constructing the political sphere in an autonomous way.
