This paper draws a map on the perceptions of the Basque citizens in relation to science and technology. It intends to analyze the overall assessment of the scientific activity and its results. To this aim, the perception of the social role of science in general (contribution of scientific knowledge, consideration of the scientific profession) and narratives on scientific systems in particular (from complementary perspectives on the funding of research and risk management) have been distinguished. The results show that science and scientist deserve a positive assessment, while, on the contrary, the way of governing science and technology is questioned.
