This article offers an interpretation of the electoral change that has taken place in the Elections for the Galician Parliament of March 1st, 2009. We observe two major explanatory sources for these political change. A first group of factors relating general sociopolitical phenomena, like the disaffection crisis affecting the European left of the early 21st century or the primacy of an economic rationality of the vote in meltdown times. A second group of factors points to changes in vote’s spatial patterns, product of variations in the strategies followed by the main Galician political parties.
